Boy, 10, charged with Birkenhead cemetery theft

A 10-year-old boy has been charged with theft after more than 100 headstones and memorials were damaged at a cemetery in Birkenhead.

A report of "extensive damage" at Flaybrick Hill Cemetery, in Tollemache Road, was made on 23 May, but police believe it happened the evening before.

The boy has been bailed to appear before Wirral Youth Court on 2 September.

Two youths, aged 13 and 15, arrested for criminal damage are on police bail.
