More than 1,000 people gathered on the Liverpool waterfront to create a spectacular human artwork inspired by Dutch painter Piet Mondrian.

Volunteers dressed in a variety of colours to form a piece based on Mondrian's abstract style, which was famously made up of squares.

The stunt was organised by Tate Liverpool, Culture Liverpool and Open Culture.

It will feature on the BBC's One Show later this week.

An exhibition of Mondrian's work is currently running at the Tate
