A £4.5m restoration project on a road bridge in Cheshire has been completed.

Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge over the River Weaver, near Frodsham, carries 20,000 vehicles a day on the A56 trunk road.

It re-opened to traffic earlier after being closed for 12-months and work will now start to dismantle a temporary bridge which was in place.

The work will extend the life of the the 88-year-old bridge by more than 50 years, the Canal and River Trust said.
