The fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in a Liverpool street was a targeted attack, police believe.

Kevin Wilson, originally from Scotland, was shot in the back at the junction of Smithdown Road and Holmes Street in Wavertree on Saturday.

Police called to the scene performed CPR until paramedics arrived to take him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Merseyside Police are continuing to hunt for the attacker.

Smithdown Road remains cordoned off, with house-to-house inquiries under way in the area. Police said cordons were expected to be in place for a number of days.
