A 14-year-old girl missing for 11 days has been found "safe and well", police have said.

Jade Lynch, who was last seen on 26 March, was found in the Wigan area earlier.

Her social media accounts had been silent since she disappeared, leading to a public appeal from her sister Stephanie Lynch, 22, to find her.

Cheshire Police had been following up a possible sighting of the teen - from St Helens, Merseyside - in Manchester.

Det Supt Jon Betts said: "I'm pleased to announce that Jade was located safe and well in the Wigan area of Greater Manchester at approximately 9.30pm.

"I would like to take this as an opportunity to say a huge thank you to the media and to the public for all of the information and support that you provided, which proved vital in our investigation to locate Jade."

The schoolgirl, originally from the Warrington area, left home at 13:00 BST on March 26, heading for St Helens town centre with her two younger brothers.

While on the way, she told her siblings she was going to meet somebody and they parted company in the Duke Street area of the town, where she was last seen.

Police were concerned Jade appeared to have no access to cash or a mobile phone.
