Attempted murder arrest after 70-year-old stabbed outside pub

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 70-year-old man was stabbed outside a pub.

Police were called to reports a man had been stabbed outside the Blarney Stone in Renshaw Street in Liverpool city centre at around 20:05 BST.

The man has been taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical, Merseyside Police said.

A 55-year-old man was arrested close to the scene and has been taken into custody for questioning.
