Two arrested over Liverpool police pursuit crash

Five people were injured when a police pursuit of a suspected stolen car ended in a three-vehicle collision in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police received reports of an Audi "driving dangerously and at high speeds" in Toxteth at 21:00 BST on Monday.

The pursuit ended in a collision with a police car and another vehicle on Penny Lane. Two men have been arrested.

A police officer and two people in the other car were also injured.

A spokesman for the force said a 19-year-old man from Dingle was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle, and burglary.

An 18-year-old man, also from Dingle, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle and burglary.

Police said the Audi is thought to have been stolen in Widnes last month.
