Three men have been injured - two critically - in an attack near a pub.

Emergency services were called at 17:25 BST on Sunday to a report that a man had been stabbed near the Phoenix on Canal Street in St Helens. Two other injured men were found nearby.

A 17-year-old boy from Rainhill and a Liverpool man, 18, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Merseyside Police have also arrested a 21-year-old man from Huyton on suspicion of assault.
