Estate demolished in Thetford homes plan

A £1m new estate is to be built in a Norfolk town, following the demolition of 34 homes on the same site.

The properties at Barnham Cross in Thetford will make way for 22 sustainable houses, as part of a Moving Thetford Forward programme.

It will form the first phase of the Sweyn Close and Fulmerston Road redevelopment project.

All residents have been re-homed and the new properties will be allocated through the council's waiting list.

They include two-bedroom flats, two and three-bedroom houses and one four-bedroom house.

The scheme is funded by the Homes and Communities Agency and Breckland District Council.

The project group will speak to residents about the works early in the new year which are expected to begin soon afterwards with a completion date of March 2012.
