Norfolk gets first snow for days

Norfolk has seen its first flurries of snow for days despite the rest of the country experiencing severe conditions.

Snow started falling across the Norwich and Dereham areas at about 0430 GMT on Thursday.

The county had seen heavy snow earlier in the week which later tailed off leaving freezing temperatures.

Forecasters predict there will be several more showers and high winds. So far nine schools have announced they will be closed.

Alderman Peel High School, Archbishop Sancroft CE High School, Diss High School, Smithdon High School, Harleston CE VA Primary School, St Andrew's Lopham CE VA Primary School and Wells-Next-The-Sea Primary and Nursery School are closed because of weather conditions.

St. Andrew's CE Primary School and Langham Village School have closed because they have no power.

Norfolk County Council urged motorists to be careful and allow extra time for their journeys.
