Derelict pub site in Norwich to become hostel

Plans for a 200-bed backpackers hostel on the site of a derelict pub have been approved by Norwich City Council.

The Ferry Boat Inn, next to the River Wensum on King Street, was a live music venue but has not been occupied for four years.

The Borthwick family will build a hostel there and plan to offer accommodation along with canoeing, cycling and a cafe.

The hostel will be the only one in Norwich.

Norwich's last Youth Hostel Association building closed seven years ago.
