Sprowston teenagers caught stealing signs

Three teenagers caught red handed uprooting road signs in Sprowston, near Norwich, have been told to apologise to the district council.

The youths, aged 17 and 18 years old, were returning home from a night out when they broke off the signs along Recreation Ground Road.

Caught by Special Constabulary officers, all admitted the offence.

Police said a restorative approach was used involving letters of apology with an offer to carry out voluntary work.

Police officers and Police Community Support Officers can use Restorative Justice (RJ) at their discretion to deal with low-level or first-time offences where all parties involved agree on a resolution.
