Fakenham fall jockey Isabel Tompsett on life support

Isabel Tompsett The racing fraternity is supporting Isabel Tompsett and her family.

A champion amateur jockey remains on a life support machine in hospital after a fall at a racecourse in Norfolk.

Isabel Tompsett, 28, from Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, was thrown off her horse during a race at Fakenham on Sunday afternoon.

Ms Tompsett, a champion amateur over jumps in the 2009 to 2010 season, was taken to hospital with head injuries.

Her family has travelled from Wales to be at her bedside at a specialist unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

In a separate incident, jockey Nick Schofield was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg and hand.
