Delia Smith is to retire as head of Norwich City's catering business in order to "reduce her workload", the club has announced.

Delia's Canary Catering was set up in 1997 and provides match day food alongside the operation of two restaurants at Carrow Road.

A statement on the club's website said the company will be passed to a younger team to "take the business further".

It is not yet known if the trading arm will be rebranded.

Since it started the club said the business had made a "significant financial contribution to the club's coffers" and this year secured record profits.

Smith, 70, who is joint majority shareholder at Norwich City with husband Michael Wynn Jones, said: "I have worked with a fantastic team who have supported my vision from day one and its success is a tribute to them."
