Sterling Helicopters in Norfolk applies for liquidation

The Norfolk-based helicopter company formerly used by the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) has applied to be put in liquidation.

Sterling Helicopters, a helicopter charter company based at Norwich Airport, has 19 members of staff.

Creditors Toby Blackwell Limited and the EAAA have applied to court to place the company in liquidation.

The accountant firm appointed to oversee the procedure is hoping a new business will take over.

PKF (UK) LLP has been appointed as liquidator.

Matt Howard, corporate recovery partner of PKF, said: "There is a slim chance that we will be able to salvage the company and we hope that a new business will emerge from the former home of the EAAA."

Sterling operated the EAAA and Norfolk Police Air Services until February 2011.

EAAA now use Bond Air Services.
