Man, attacked in Norwich, died from bleed to the brain

A 27-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after a man assaulted outside a Norwich nightclub died.

The man died after suffering serious head injuries when he was attacked outside Chicago's in Prince of Wales Road in the early hours of Friday.

A post-mortem examination found he died from a bleed to the brain.

Ion Lacatus, from London, has been charged with manslaughter and remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Monday.

A 27-year-old man arrested in connection with the assault remains in police custody.

'Busy time'

Five other men arrested in connection with the incident - two aged 30 and others aged 36, 37 and 43, have been released without charge.

Det Ch Insp Neil Luckett, who is heading the investigation, said: "It was a particularly busy time of night in an area frequented by hundreds of pub and club goers.

"We would therefore like to speak to anyone who believes they may have witnessed the altercation which has sadly led to the death of the victim.

"No matter how insignificant you may think the information is we would still like to hear from you."
