Major road junction in Norwich closed for resurfacing

A busy roundabout in Norwich where three roads meet is to be closed to all traffic for three or four days.

Road works starting on Tuesday evening on Earlham Road will close the Fiveways roundabout, on a main route to a regional hospital and a university.

A spokesman for Norfolk County council said: "The roundabout will remain closed until road reconstruction and resurfacing is complete."

The work is due to take three days but bad weather could delay completion.

"It is hoped the road will reopen on Friday evening, 26 August, but the weather forecast is uncertain and heavy rain could delay completion until Saturday 27 August," the spokesman said.

"Work on the roundabout is part of two weeks of work costing £341,000 on the B1108 Earlham Road.

"Work began near the junction with Wilberforce Road on Monday 15 August.

"The county council apologises for the inconvenience caused during this essential road maintenance."
