Great Yarmouth Market Place Argos manager admits theft

A shop manager has admitted stealing almost £72,000 from his employer in Norfolk.

Mark Archer, 33, from Jex Road, Norwich, ran the Argos store in Great Yarmouth Market Place.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of theft when he appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday.

The court heard he had stolen £71,735.75 from the store between June 2009 and July this year. The case was adjourned for sentencing.

Archer is due back in court on 6 December.

At an earlier hearing at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court the prosecution said he had stolen the money from the store's safe.

It was described as "a vast amount to take over a two year period".
