Man arrested over armed police stand-off in Harleston

A man has been arrested after a five-and-a-half hour stand-off in a Norfolk town, police have said.

The 45-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of causing fear of violence with a firearm or imitation firearm in Harleston on Tuesday.

Armed units were called to Martin Road at 17:10 GMT and arrested the man after a shot was fired.

He is being treated for minor injuries at Gorleston's James Paget Hospital.

Police said they did not use a Taser or firearm in the incident.
