Fakenham chip van worker burnt by hot oil in crash

A woman working in a chip van in Norfolk suffered serious burns when the vehicle was struck by a car, spilling hot cooking oil on her and a colleague.

A Peugeot 106 hit the stationary white Iveco van on Norwich Road, Fakenham, at 17:20 GMT on Thursday.

Police said a man and woman in the van were preparing food at the time and both received burns when oil from the deep fat fryer spilled out.

The woman, who is in her 40s, is in a specialist burns unit.

Her colleague was not seriously hurt and is not in hospital, police said.
