A man has been remanded in custody after a car crashed through the window of a Norwich office building.

Christopher Leeds, 35, of Fitzgerald Road, Norwich, is charged with dangerous driving and criminal damage "recklessly endangering life".

He was detained after the crash at a job centre in Kiln House, Pottergate, at about 09:40 GMT on Monday.

He appeared before Norwich magistrates on Tuesday and was remanded to appear before Norwich Crown Court on 9 April.

The JobCentre Plus office was evacuated and closed following the incident but has since reopened.

A Department for Work and Pensions spokeswoman said because of a backlog, claimants due to sign on for jobseeker's allowance would receive their benefit automatically.
