Norfolk man's injuries caused by murder attempt, police say

A man taken to hospital with critical injuries was the victim of an attack that Norfolk police are treating as attempted murder.

The 51-year-old man was found at a flat in Exeter Road, Gorleston, on Monday 15 July and taken to James Paget Hospital.

He was later transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where he is still critical.

Police said they had now established that it was not an accident and the man was physically attacked.

Temporary Det Chief Insp Andy Guy said: "It has taken some time to establish that the injuries the victim experienced were as the result of a physical attack rather than of an accidental nature.

"An extensive forensic examination of the flat is under way, as are house-to-house enquiries and a number of witness enquiries."
