Buckinghamshire man to go on trial over 1996 Trowse rape

A man accused of the rape and attempted murder of a woman in Norfolk nearly 18 years ago, has pleaded not guilty.

The charges relate to an attack on a 20-year-old woman in Trowse, a village near Norwich, on 20 July 1996.

Peter John Carroll, 55, of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday and was remanded in custody.

A trial date has yet to be fixed. Mr Carroll was arrested in December after an unsolved case review.
