Peggy Spencer funeral: Last Waltz played for Come Dancing star

Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of Come Dancing star Peggy Spencer in King's Lynn.

The 95-year-old, who taught Prince Rainer and Princess Grace to dance, was known to millions of viewers for her role on TV's Come Dancing.

Mourners, including choreographers from BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, joined for a celebration of her life.

A lover of waltzes, Spencer's final journey was accompanied by Engelbert Humperdinck's The Last Waltz.

Spencer's daughter, Helena Anderson, said she had since received more than 250 cards and messages from people all over the world, and that mourners would be coming from Africa, Germany, Spain, Norway and Ireland.

She said: "Mum was a very positive person and [the funeral was expected to be] a wonderful celebration of all the things that she has achieved and the person that she was."

Spencer started teaching dancing in air raid shelters during World War Two. Later she moved to Norfolk and continued to teach until just two years ago.
