Wellingborough street works 'due to end early'

A revamp of a Northamptonshire town centre's main shopping street is to finish earlier than expected, a council has said.

Work in Wellingborough resumed on Tuesday after being put on hold over the busy Christmas period.

The town's council said both ends of Market Street would be worked on simultaneously to complete the job ahead of schedule.

The project began in September and was due to end in March.

It is part of a £2m scheme to improve the look of the town centre and make it more pedestrian friendly.
