Academy plans for Kettering set to be approved

A scheme to build a multi-million pound school academy to cater for 1,770 pupils, aged from four to 19 years, is being recommended for approval.

The plans for the Buccleuch Academy in Kettering include a new school building and the demolition of the existing Montague School buildings.

The existing sports hall will be retained and a new all-weather sports pitch built.

The plans go before Northamptonshire County Council on 15 March.

A report to the council's development control committee said the "modern and contemporary design" was acceptable and would not have a "significant impact" on the local area.

It added there were no objections from the Highway Authority and recommended the scheme was backed.
