Fifth man charged over 'handbagging' jewellers raid

A fifth man has been arrested over an attempted raid on a jewellers' shop foiled by a woman who "handbagged" the alleged robbers in Northampton.

A 28-year-old man from London has been charged with conspiracy to rob over the raid on Michael Jones Jewellers in Gold Street on Monday 7 February.

He was remanded in custody at Northampton Magistrates' Court.

All five are due to appear again at Northampton Crown Court on Friday 15 April.

The other men, aged 18, 22, 25 and 39, are also all from London.
