Northamptonshire bomb scares reassurance offered

People living in north Northamptonshire are being told by police there is no cause for alarm after four bomb scares in the course of a week.

Bomb disposal experts were called in after two suspicious packages were found in Corby and one was discovered in both Kettering and Barton Seagrave.

None of the packages, discovered between 28 March and 1 April, was found to contain explosives.

Police do not believe the incidents were linked.

Det Spt Mark Evans, of Northamptonshire Police, said: "The discovery of such packages and substances is very rare in Northamptonshire.

"I would like to reassure people that the public were never at risk."

Two packages were found at Corby Boating Lake on 28 March, while another was discovered in a wooded area near Alberta Close, Corby, three days later.
