Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a three-year-old boy who died in a fire at his Northamptonshire home.

Callum Bland died when a fire in a wheelie bin swept through his house in Fulmar Lane, Wellingborough in 2007.

The boys, aged 16 and 17, who are both from Wellingborough, were arrested early on Tuesday and are being interviewed by police.

Callum's mother Jayne, her partner and three other children escaped the fire.

In December 2008 an inquest into Callum's death recorded an open verdict.

Det Ch Insp Ian Oliver of Northamptonshire Police, said: "We have been fully committed to investigating the circumstances that led up to the fire and have always believed that information surrounding this incident remains within the community on the Hemmingwell estate.

"We hope today's arrests may produce some answers in respect of this little boy's tragic death."
