'Serious' vandal attack in Daventry park

Vandals have attacked a play park in Northamptonshire in what a council said is one of the most serious incidents they have seen.

Glass was smashed, paint splashed and flooring under swings ripped up at Fishponds on Southbrook in Daventry.

A skate ramp was also lifted from the ground and abusive graffiti was sprayed around the area.

Daventry District Council has removed the glass and debris and is repairing the damaged areas.

The council's managing director, Ian Vincent said: "This is one of the most serious vandalism attacks we have seen and I would urge people living in the area to be vigilant and report any damage to the council so we can repair it and make it safe for young people to play in.

"Our Community Safety Team has recently put lots of work and effort into attempting to reduce anti-social behaviour in Southbrook and officers will now be working with partners to look at what further steps can be taken to try to prevent this from happening again."
