A police community support officer (PCSO) has come up with an idea to help children to get to know their local officers better.

Lisa Dickerson, based in Thrapston, Northamptonshire, has designed a set of cards based on the 'Top Trumps' game.

Each card has information about an officer including scores for their pedal power, foot power, problem solving, agility and strength.

There are 11 cards for children to collect from PCSOs.

Insp Vaughan Clarke, who is in charge of policing in East Northamptonshire said: "It's so important that children are confident to speak to our officers if they have a problem or something is a concern for them."

Officers will visit schools including Stanwick, Ringstead, Thrapston, Irthlingborough and Great Addington over the next few weeks to explain how the scheme will work.

The cards have been funded by the East Northamptonshire Community Safety Partnership.
