Website for Northampton's Serenity sexual assault referral centre

A sexual assault referral centre in Northampton has launched a website in an effort to provide support to more people.

Serenity, said to be the first centre of its kind in Northamptonshire, offers advice and support from crisis workers.

The new website has more information about services that victims can access in the county.

Serenity said more than 500 victims of rape or serious sexual assault had been helped since it opened a year ago.

Glynis Bliss, Serenity's manager, said: "We work very well with the police, but also a wide range of health services - many of our self referrals come via GPs, nurses and clinics."

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Frost of Northamptonshire Police said: "Over the last year Serenity has helped hundreds of victims through their ordeal and continues to go from strength to strength."
