Council of Wellingborough to review burial services

Councillors in Wellingborough are to discuss the services that are provided for the deceased and bereaved.

A working group has been set up following concerns that the town could run out of burial space in the future.

The group will review the current services and examine other options including eco-friendly burials and cremation.

The review is expected take at least a year after which the group will report to the council.

Councillor Thomas Pursglove, who chairs the overview and scrutiny committee, said: "We are looking to be responsive and increase the amount of services that we offer if there is a local demand for it."
