Daventry District Council: Jobs could go

About 29 jobs could go after the restructuring of a district council in Northamptonshire.

Daventry District Council will hold a full council meeting on Thursday to consider its medium-term financial plan.

The council said it needs to find £800,000 on top of the savings it has already made to balance its budget.

Councillors are being asked to consider changes which would see some new jobs created but also posts being lost.

Ian Vincent, the council's managing director, said: "Staff immediately affected by the proposals are receiving ongoing support from the council and being kept regularly informed and consulted."

The council said it had already saved £200,000 by making changes to senior management in April and July.

If it is agreed, the new structure will be in place by 31 March 2012.
