Man questioned over murder of Hungarian-born Karoly Varga

A 47-year-old man is being questioned by police in Northamptonshire on suspicion of murder.

The man was arrested in early the hours of Thursday morning at an address in Stanley Road, Wellingborough.

Hungarian-born Karoly Varga, 76, known as Charlie, was found dead at his home in Cannon Street on 30 July.

Police said a post-mortem examination revealed Mr Varga died from head injuries inflicted with a bladed weapon, most likely during 29 July.

A police spokesman said: "Scenes of crime officers were in Stanley Road on Thursday and specially trained search teams will be there throughout the day," a spokesman said.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who knew Karoly Varga, or has any information about his death, to come forward.
