Cable theft leaves villages without phone and internet

Three villages in Northamptonshire are still without working phone lines and internet connection after thieves stole copper wiring.

The cables were taken from Brafield on the Green near Northampton overnight on Saturday 3 December.

The villages affected include Cogenhoe, Brafield and Denton.

BT said it was working around the clock to restore communication but it could be Thursday evening before services are restored.

In a statement, a BT spokesman said: "Because of the amount of damage caused in the attack this will be a complex and time consuming repair."
