Northamptonshire gets cash for winter slankets

Northamptonshire has been given £250,000 to help protect the vulnerable people during winter, which will include distributing slankets.

The sleeved blankets form part of a number of items which will be given to those who need help.

The money was given by the government after a joint bid from NHS Northamptonshire, the county council, Age UK and other agencies.

In 2010 there were 253 winter deaths recorded in the county.

The county council has set up a section on its website for those who need more information.
