Corby nightclub Madisons withdraws licence appeal

A nightclub in Northamptonshire has withdrawn its appeal against its licence being revoked for selling alcohol to under-age drinkers.

Madisons nightclub on Rockingham Road in Corby lost its licence in July 2011.

Corby Borough Council decided to take action after a police spot check found 24 under 18s at the club were buying or consuming alcohol.

"The owner has made a late decision to drop the appeal," Corby councillor Peter McEwan said.

"This decision will no doubt provide some comfort to residents within the old village who have raised concerns about anti-social behaviour and noise issues in this area."

A spokesperson for the nightclub and bar was unavailable for comment.
