Finedon Tudor Gate Hotel refurbishment backed
Plans to buy a derelict 17th Century hotel in Northamptonshire and refurbish it have been approved by Wellingborough council.
The Grade II-listed Tudor Gate Hotel on High Street in Finedon has been empty for four years.
Now the council has backed proposals for the compulsory purchase of the building with the view of finding a partner to carry out its refurbishment.
The council resources committee backed plans to look at buying the hotel.
The hotel currently belongs to Ian Cunningham, who was granted planning permission to alter the building in November and has since put it up for sale.
Ward councillor John Bailey said the building was vulnerable while it was empty.
