Tributes to Northamptonshire councillor Philip Hardcastle

Tributes have been paid to the deputy leader of a Northamptonshire council who died this week.

Councillor Philip Hardcastle served as the deputy leader of East Northamptonshire Council and had represented the Barnwell ward in East Northamptonshire since 2003.

He was also a past Chair of Rockingham Forest Housing Association.

Colleagues described him as a true friend who made an "immense" contribution to the community.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Steven North said: "With his passing East Northamptonshire has lost a true friend.

"Phil's contribution to the work of the council has been immense, and he also played an active role in the life and work of the local community.

"His extensive business experience and wise counsel were an asset when key decisions had to be made, in particular those affecting the economic well-being of the district.

"He will be much missed by us all."

Councillors and staff have extended their sincere condolences to his wife Elaine, his family and friends and colleagues.
