Presenter John Griff in Northamptonshire charity song challenge

A presenter at BBC Radio Northampton has been challenged to sing in front of a crowd of thousands to raise money for Children in Need.

Afternoon show presenter John Griff was set the "dare" of performing at a Northampton Saints rugby union game by station editor Jess Rudkin.

He will sing Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water on 10 November.

Mr Griff said "I can't believe I agreed to sing in front of over ten thousand people."

He added: "It's all for a good cause and I need your support to raise as much money as possible."

Jess said she came up with the idea after hearing about plans for a nationwide television performance of the song for charity, with youngsters from Parklands Primary in Northampton among those taking part.

People can pledge support for John by visiting his sponsorship page.
