Gintas Burinskas, 36, of Victoria Road in the town, got an 11-year sentence at Northampton Crown Court after pleading guilty to rape and assault.

The court heard the attack took place in the early hours of 26 December, as the victim was walking alone near the town centre.

During the attack Gintas raped her and injured her face. He was arrested nearby.
