A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a family of four.

Jifeng Ding, his wife Helen and their daughters Xing, 18, and Alice, 12, were found stabbed to death at their home in Northampton on 1 May, 2011.

Anxiang Du, 54, a businessman from Coventry, spoke to confirm his name when he appeared at Northampton Crown Court on Thursday.

He is expected to appear before the court again on October 17 to enter a plea.

Police believe the family were killed on 29 April, 2011.

Mr Du, from Coventry, was arrested by detectives last year in Tangier, Morocco and extradited to the UK earlier this year
