Large fire at Wellingborough industrial estate

Black smoke was billowing from the Finedon Road Industrial Estate

About 80 firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a food preparation plant in Northamptonshire.

Crews were first called to the fire at the Trojan Centre on Stewarts Road, Wellingborough, just before 05:00 BST.

BBC Look East's Mike Cartwright said the roof of the business had collapsed with food packaging burning inside.

By 14:00 only two crews remained on site to damp down the flames and the nearby A510 was due to be reopened.

Hot vats of oil and cooking fat are also inside the plant.

People living around the Finedon Road Industrial Estate were warned to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke.
