Nottingham firms warned over delivery scam
Police have issued a warning after Nottingham firms have been targeted by a delivery scam.
A caller, claiming to be from a neighbouring firm, asks the company to pay a courier for a delivery on their behalf as they will be going out.
Two firms have been targeted in the city over the past few days and have paid £70 and £95 to the bogus courier.
They later found out the package, which they paid for, contained worthless paper.
Insp Andy Townsend said: "It is a very simple and easily organised fraud that preys on our good nature.
"At least two businesses have handed over money in good faith when the delivery was made, only to find that they have paid for useless items that are never collected."
