Man charged over Nottinghamshire post office raid

A 37-year-old man has been charged with robbery following a raid at mobile post office in Nottinghamshire.

The postmaster was hit over the head with a mallet after parking up at the village hall in Sutton-cum-Lound on Thursday morning.

The man, from Retford, appeared at Worksop & Retford Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

He was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 11 October.

No-one was seriously hurt in the incident.

Two other men arrested, aged 36 and 47, have been bailed pending further inquiries.
