Staff threatened at betting shop in Beeston

Three men fled empty-handed after threatening staff at a Nottinghamshire betting shop with a hammer and what was believed to be a shotgun.

The men, who all had their faces covered, went into Betfred in Derby Road, Beeston, at about 1930 GMT on Monday.

They demanded cash and tried to get in the staff area, but then ran off.

Staff and a member of the public in the shop were unhurt. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Two of the men were wearing dark grey hooded tops with dark jogging bottoms, with one of them described as about 5ft 7in and wearing black gloves.

A third man, who was carrying the firearm, wore a grey hooded top.
