Police appeal to identify Lenton bridge death man

Police are appealing for help identifying a man who fell to his death from a footbridge over a busy Nottingham road.

The thick-set man, believed to have been aged between 30 and 45, died on the A52 close to Lenton industrial estate on the night of 1 November.

He is 6ft tall with cropped black hair and a black goatee beard and was wearing a brown "Kayak"-branded jacket.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Blood blisters

The man was also wearing a blue Reebok zip-up hoodie, a black T-shirt with a Lonsdale motif, dark blue jeans and walking boots. All his clothes were size XXL.

Blood blisters on the sole of his right foot indicate that he may have been walking for some time, said police.

He smelled of alcohol, suggesting he may have been drinking shortly before his death, according to Insp Mark Stanley.

He said: "Someone will know who this man is. He will presumably have a family and friends for whom this death will be a tragedy.

"It is vital that we can put a name and identity to him so that those people who need to be informed can be informed by our officers as soon as possible."
