A man has been rescued from a fire in Nottinghamshire by his neighbours.

Three people rescued the man before fire crews arrived at a flat on the corner of Outram Street and St Michael Street in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

He was given oxygen by paramedics and all four people were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after the blaze on Friday night.

An investigation has now begun into the cause of the fire, a brigade spokesman said.

Crews believe it started in the living room.
