Staff threatened during Gedling Sainsbury's robbery

Staff have been threatened by robbers brandishing a metal bar during a robbery at a Nottinghamshire store.

Two men went into Sainsbury's in Arnold Lane, Gedling, at about 1920 GMT on Saturday.

Once inside one of the robbers threatened staff with a metal bar and demanded money from the till. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said there were several customers in the store at the time but no-one was injured during the raid.

The man carrying the metal bar was described as white, aged between 30 and 40, just over 6ft tall and stocky.

He was wearing a black hooded zip-up top.

The second man was also white, aged between 20 and 30, about 6ft 3ins tall and slim. He wore a dark hooded top and sunglasses.

Police said the pair got into a small hatchback car and drove off in the direction of Mapperley Top towards Porchester Road.
